What records look like

What do my records look like before they're posted? What do you do with them after?

You might be wondering what your data looks like when Dot Health receives it! Well, it depends on a few things, like:

  1. What type of institution you visited. Most hospitals now use electronic medical records, but some smaller clinics still operate with paper medical records.

  2. When you visited the institution. The more recently you visited a healthcare institution, the more likely they are to be digital.

Most records we receive are received electronically and converted to plain text before being posted to your profile. We then destroy them locally immediately after.

We rarely receive paper copies of records, but when we do, those records are scanned on site, OCR'd (converted to plain text) by our system, posted to your profile, and destroyed before being picked up by a professional shredding company.
